A 17 per cent year-on-year decrease in bladed weapon possession offences across Cambridgeshire has led police to hold another week-long knife amnesty.
Police figures show that, between April 2020 and March 2021, there were 243 possession of an article with a blade or point offences.
123 were in Fenland and Peterborough while 118 were in East Cambs, South Cambs and Cambridge.
People will be able to hand in knives without fear of prosecution next week as part of a national week of action.
From Monday April 26 to Sunday May 2, people will be able to dispose of knives at Thorpe Wood Police Station in Peterborough and Parkside Police Station in Cambridge. ....

A large illegal knife and 45 cannabis plants were seized by police during a raid on a scrap yard in East Cambridgeshire today (Friday April 16).

A person was also detained at the scene and interviewed for the offences, said police.

Whilst checking scrap yards today, officers from the Rural Crime Action Team located 45 cannabis plants being grown at a premises in east cambs, said a police spokesman. ....

Thirteen laptops and 50 computer desktops will be donated to the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Digital Drive thanks to East Cambridgeshire District Council.
The donation will allow schools to offer computers to students who require them for home learning during lockdown and beyond, while also bolstering classroom supplies for their reopening.
Councillor David Ambrose-Smith, chairman of the operational services committee, said: “After being unable to physically see our friends and family due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen just how important technology can be in connecting people. ....
