Earth 2.0. so it s really quite a kmntry that someone like a madison cawthorn or a marjorie taylor greene would become celebrities in this republican party, but again, i think it s important that we find some mechanism for making these representatives answer for the kind of rhetoric that they engaged in, the role that they played in the attempt to subvert democracy, because once again, and i know we used this phrase too often probably on this show, but none of this is normal and we can t treat it as normal, which means that when i say, harry, that it s intriguing, it s also a recognition that perhaps we need to look to different tools. we need to look to elements of the u.s. constitution that have been overlooked for the last century and employ whatever we can in order to save our democracy. well, and it s an indictment of the political process, because you used to be able to rely on fact checkers and the truth and opposition research existed in both parties because the truth about s ....
Watching another network, it was experiencing earth 2.0. a complete reality that they ll spin this as something completely different and they think they have their talking point. to jonathan s point, you watch jim jordan this morning on another network, i would think other republicans would have to ask himself. do you want to become jim jordan or clown yourself in this particular way or you want to sound like lindsey graham sound right now. so far it has works for them. as more information comes out, they run the risk of really looking ridiculous. you have lindsey graham with his fellow tim scott out doing their thing and being jim jordan. that s the thing. fox news also imprisons elected republicans. they know the people who vote for them watch that all day and so they are do what they are told. that s the bold work last ....
Of course. if this was earth 2.0. his numbers don t move up and down. look, i mean, he is blowing smoke about these internal polls. i think we all understand that. you have aides who are still naive enough to think they can get him to pivot and be more presidential and there is not going to be any sort of pivot. but the trump folks have a plausible argument and they think, look. our numbers were horrible in 2016. we don t need to be popular. we don t need to have drup be popular. we need donald trump to be less unpopul unpopular than the democrats and we get into this fight and cast him as a socialist or run against the green new deal or medicare for all we think those are politically toxic. our numbers may not rise but we can drive down the democratic numbers. so they think of this purely in terms of that binary choice. if you thought 2016 was ugly, 2020 will be much uglier. that is not a totally implausible case some of these ....
What genuine courage, what genuine service, george h.w. bush, you know, gave to his country as opposed to donald trump. and in so many ways, what trump represents has been this repudiation of all of the values civility. of all of the values compromise. exactly. of all of those things. and so when you have a moment like this, little bit like the mccain funeral, you do get the chance to sit back and go, okay, there is an all teternative his, an earth 2.0 where we honor men like this, where we have a different view of what leadership and strength actually look like. and whatever anybody says at this funeral, that contrast is going to be very, very stark over the next few days. all right. a new report in the new york times that could be of interest to robert mueller. we ll bring it to you next. george woke up in pain. ....
