CADILLAC — A 32-year-old LeRoy man had two criminal sexual conduct offenses against him dismissed with prejudice during his recent jury trial in Wexford County’s 28th Circuit Court.

⚾: Awards Wrap-Up: Messick Leads Four All-Americans

TALLAHASSEE – Four Seminoles – led by sophomore starting pitcher Parker Messick – earned All-America honors for their performance during the 2022 season. Messick was a first team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, a second team All-American from Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball and a third team All-American by D1Baseball and Perfect Game. A trio of first-year players joined Messick as freshmen All-Americans, with Jaime Ferrer (Collegiate Baseball), James Tibbs (second team Perfect Game) and Conner Whittaker (second team NCBWA) being recognized. Messick, from Plant City, Florida, was a first team All-ACC pitcher and finished the year with a 7-5 record, 3.38 ERA and 144 strikeouts and only 18 walks in 98.2 innings pitched. A finalist for the Dick Howser and Golden Spikes Awards, Messick led the ACC in strikeouts and was just the second FSU pitcher in the past decade with consecutive 100-strikeout seasons. ⚾: Hubbart Dominant in Series-Clinching Win

BRIGHTON, MASS. – Florida State (28-17, 13-11) won its second road series of the year with an 8-1 win over Boston College (19-30, 5-22) Sunday afternoon at Harrington Athletics Village. The Noles have won all nine road series against the Eagles since BC joined the ACC for the 2006 season. Bryce Hubbart (7-1) allowed just one hit and hit a batter in 7.0 innings, with 11 strikeouts. Both of Boston College’s runners against Hubbart came in the second inning, on a leadoff double and a hit batter. Hubbart rallied to force a fly out and struck out Sam McNulty looking to keep BC off the board. After the hit batter, Hubbart retired the final 17 batters he faced before Dylan Simmons worked a perfect eighth inning and ran that streak to 20 batters. ⚾: Hatters Top Seminoles in DeLand

DeLAND, FLORIDA – Florida State (26-16) fell 6-0 Tuesday night to Stetson (21-23) at Melching Field in DeLand, Florida. Stetson scored three unearned runs in the second inning to take the early lead. With two outs, Ross Dunn (1-4) hit Yohann Dessureault and Christian Pregent reached on an error before Andrew Estrella’s first career home run. The Hatters loaded the bases in the fourth inning when Conner Whittaker entered with no outs. Whittaker struck out the first two batters before a full-count walk plated another run. In the fifth, a two-out triple from Dessureault made the score 5-0. Another unearned run scored on a throwing error in the eighth. TALLAHASSEE – Florida State (21-13, 9-8 ACC) defeated No. 9 Louisville (24-10, 9-5 ACC) 9-4 Friday night to clinch the series against the ACC Atlantic Division leaders. Freshman Treyton Rank had a career day with four hits, four RBI, two runs scored and finished a home run shy of the 10th cycle in FSU history. LHP Bryce Hubbart (6-1) started for the Noles, pitching 5.2 innings with six strikeouts and just one run allowed, lowering his season ERA to 2.82. Relievers Davis Hare, Conner Whittaker, Dylan Jacobs and Dylan Simmons pitched the remainder of the game. Louisville struck for three runs in the ninth inning after FSU had extended its lead to 9-1.
