Motorcycle rider dies after hit and run, truck driver will be arrested

Update, 1:05 p.m.: Clarksville Police have shared a photo of 63-year-old Stanley Cliff, the suspected truck driver involved in Sunday’s wreck.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The motorcycle rider who was injured in a hit-and-run wreck over the weekend has died, and the truck driver will be arrested.
Dwight Lee Carter, 55, died from his injuries Wednesday, according to his family.

The driver of the truck has been identified as Stanley Cliff, 63, according to Clarksville Police spokesman Detective Michael Patterson. ....

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The truck that left the scene of a serious motorcycle injury wreck was found Tuesday, according to Clarksville Police.
CPD also said in a Facebook post that contact has been made with the owner of the truck.
The truck, which left the scene on Providence Boulevard near Market Street, was described as a ’90s model, gray Ford F-150, two-door with extended cab The truck had damage to the rear of the passenger side according to photos shared to Facebook.
Surveillance video depicted the truck pulling out in front of the motorcycle and then crossing multiple lanes of traffic to flee the scene. ....

Truck in hit-and-run found at auto repair shop on College Street
According to Clarksville Police, contact as been made with the owner of the truck.
Mike Rittenberry, the owner of Mike s Tire Service on College Street, said the truck owner stopped by his shop around 9 a.m. Monday. Rittenberry said at the time he didn t know that was the same truck from the wreck that left a motorcycle rider in critical condition the previous day.
He couldn t assist with the damages and suggested the truck owner visit Johnson s Do It Yourself Garage auto repair shop.
Rittenberry said the first thing the truck owner told him was that somebody else was driving his truck when it was in a wreck. ....

VIDEO: Motorcyclist in critical condition after hit and run wreck

Dwight Lee Carter Sr. is in critical but stable condition after his motorcycle collided with with a truck Sunday night and the driver fled the scene.
As a result of the hit and run, Carter has suffered several broken bones and a stroke, his family told The Leaf-Chronicle.
Around 7 p.m., Carter was riding his motorcycle on Providence Boulevard with his son and friends when he and the driver of a full-sized truck crashed near Market Street. Video shows a vehicle fleeing the scene as other motorcycle riders stop in the middle of the road and run to aid Carter, a father of five. He was life-flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. ....
