Amherst Council to act on $31.9M regional school budget proposal that decreases spending

AMHERST – The Town Council at Monday’s meeting is scheduled to act on a $31.9 million regional school budget proposal that decreases spending, that was previously voted in the affirmative by school board.
This spending plan, which if approved by Amherst Town Council, would take effect in the fiscal year that begins July 1, is $231,754 less than the current Amherst-Pelham Regional School system budget.
Despite the overall decrease, the town’s share – its annual assessment – would increase to $16,748,783, or a 2.1% hike, data provided by the school department shows. ....
