Wallace Lee Starwalt of Dunkirk, N.Y. passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 12 with his wife, daughter, and three granddaughters by his side.
Born on Dec. 1, 1929 in Coles County, Illinois, Wallace was the son of the late Frank and Clarissa (Carpenter) Starwalt. He had a younger brother, Philip Dean, and an unborn sibling who both perished in a tragic house fire in 1938 along with his mother.
He attended rural schools until the 8th grade, and then Hindsboro Elementary & High School, where he graduated as Salutatorian, Class of 1947. Wallace continued to keep in touch with his classmates via phone conversations, Facebook, and E-mails. Having attended his 70th HS reunion in Arcola, I.L. in July of 2017, he was looking forward to seeing cherished friends again at the 75th reunion, to be held in July of 2022. ....

Albert J. Mazurek died Jan. 8, 2021, at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk, N.Y.
Born on Feb. 1, 1942, in Dunkirk, N.Y., the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Bielat) Mazurek.
Albert was a devout Catholic who participated in weekly Mass, Communion, the Sacrament of Confession and Eucharistic Adoration. On Dec. 1, 2020, slightly more than one month before his passing, Albert was spiritually prepared to enter his eternal home, having received both the Sacrament of the Sick and Holy Communion at Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo.
Albert attended St. Hedwig’s Catholic School and Cardinal Mindszenty High School. Once an employee of Morgan Linen Services company, he ended his career as a property caretaker and maintenance technician at Deer Run Park. A family-owned rental property with a large farmhouse, barn, mobile homes, and a fully operational Holstein cattle farm, it was located on Berry Road in Fredonia. ....
