New Zealand scored a lot of runs in their second T20I against Australia today. It very nearly wasn t enough.
With Australia needing 15 off the last over chasing a massive 220 to win and the destructive Marcus Stoinis and Daniel Sams at the crease, Jimmy Neesham had both dismissed caught on the boundary as the visitors came within five runs of pulling off a ridiculous win.
In front of a sold out, near delirious and well-lubricated crowd of students and locals alike, Stoinis launched a six off the fourth ball leaving himself nine off two. The next one was in the slot but he just missed his mark, with Tim Southee settling under the skier to send the crowd home happy regardless of what happened off the final ball. ....

A man s near-successful attempt to escape the clutches of the law, after streaking across Dunedin s University Oval during the Black Caps T20 match against Australia, has been captured on film by fellow cricket fans.
During Australia s unsuccessful chase of New Zealand s total of 219/7, and amongst a sell-out crowd packed full of students celebrating the start of the first semester of university in the city, the man decided to join the ranks of previous Dunedin-based sporting streakers - and almost got away with it. ....

The Basin Reserve in Wellington and the Hagley Oval in Christchurch will host the semi-finals with the latter also set to to host the final under lights on April 3, 2022.
An opening match at Tauranga’s Bay Oval and a final under lights at Hagley Oval are two of the highlights of a 31-match schedule announced today for ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022.
The pinnacle event for women’s cricket will see 31 matches played across 31 action-packed days between 4 March and 3 April 2022 – the first global women’s cricket event to be played since the Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia back in March. The tournament was postponed from its original window in February-March 2021 with the same six host cities and venues retained for 2022. ....
