Published July 21, 2021, 1:40 PM BACOLOD CITY – An Australian national was arrested here on Monday, after he allegedly kidnapped the two children of his former live-in partner in a hotel in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental on Sunday. Policemen arrested 39-year-old Peter Lay, at his rented house in Barangay Estefania, where the two children were rescued. Police Maj. Jun Ray Batadlan, Police Station 4 commander, said that Lay allegedly took the kids – a nine-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy, without the permission of his former live-in partner. Batadlan said that Lay wanted to get back with his former lover. Australian Peter Lay is being escorted by authorities as he is set to face kidnapping charges in Dumaguete City. Published May 20, 2021, 2:49 PM BACOLOD CITY – About 500 grams of suspected shabu worth P3.4 million were seized by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Negros Oriental from a senior citizen in a buy-bust operation outside the Dumaguete City port in Barangay Looc Wednesday. PDEA Negros Oriental head Francisfil Tangeres identified the suspect as Evelyn Jimenez, 63, a “sari-sari” (variety) store owner, while his relative, Jovic Calibo, who was the subject of the operation, is at large. Tangeres said they were talking to Calibo over the phone regarding the transaction but he sent Jimenez to meet the poseur-buyer. Tangeres said they placed both of them under monitoring for a month before conducting the operation. He added that both suspects are reportedly noted conspiring in the illegal drugs trade, as some of their family members have been previously arrested for the same offense. ....
