In this watershed moment in human history, the basis of our modern system of international governance, human rights, and international law were born.

Biden Officially Recognizes the Christian Armenian Genocide, Perpetrated by Turkey

(CNS News) On Apr. 24, President Joe Biden issued a statement in honor of Armenian Remembrance Day, an official acknowledgement of the Ottoman Turks genocide of the Armenians, which occurred in the early 20th century and killed an estimated 1.5 million Armenians, mostly all of whom were Christians. Armenia first declared itself a Christian nation in the year A.D. 301.
Biden is the first U.S. president to issue an official statement on the Armenian genocide. In 1981, then-President Ronald Reagan referred to the genocide of the Armenians in a speech commemorating the liberation of the Nazi death camps.  ....

Most students of history are aware of the Armenian Genocide, in which huge numbers of Armenian Christians were slaughtered by Ottoman Turk forces during World War I.  
In recent years, the Israeli historians Benny Morris and Dror Ze’evi sought to follow in the path of many others in investigating what happened during this period.  
Morris and Ze’evi came to believe that what we call the Armenian Genocide constitutes just one awful chapter within a ‘Thirty-Year Genocide’ which destroyed Turkey’s Christian community, and their 2019 book advances this argument.   ....
