Calgary shelters and volunteers are working to support the city’s unhoused population while Environment Canada reports record-breaking heat.
The 33.8 C registered in Calgary Monday afternoon easily broke the previous record high for June 28 when the heat peaked at 32.8 C in 1937. The average temperature reaches only 21.6 C for this time of year.

And new records are predicted to continue being set this week as the entire province remains under extreme heat warnings. The highest historical temperatures recorded this week range between 32 to 42 C, and Environment Canada is forecasting the sweltering heat to reach as high as 40 C this week. ....
