The young Switzerland County varsity baseball team continues to experience growing pains throughout the season, but the Pacers are battling hard in all their games, including two losses this past week.
Madison
On Monday, April 19th, the Pacers traveled to Madison and returned home on the short end of a 15-3 score.
Switzerland County got off to a good start, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning, but the Cubs responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first to knot the game.
Madison then scored three times in the bottom of the second; and after Switzerland County scored in the top of the third, the Cubs posted four more runs in the bottom of the third to take control.
Pacer diamondmen earn first victory of the season
The Switzerland County Pacer varsity baseball team has had a busy week, earning one win in three contests.
South Ripley
On Tuesday, April 13th, the Pacers traveled to South Ripley, and fell to the Raiders by a score of 6-0.
Offensively, Bryce Turner had a hit and a walk in three official plate appearances, and also picked up a stolen base.
Kaleb Koons also had a hit in three times to the plate and had a stolen base; as did Austin Bosaw. Trace Johnson was 1-for-2 at the dish with a base hit and a steal; and Ben Hicks picked up a steal after reaching base by being hit with a pitch.
Pacer moundsmen off to slow season start
The Switzerland County High School boys varsity baseball team is off to a slow start, but there are high hopes that the Pacer bats will heat up as the weather does.
Jac-Cen-Del
Last Friday, April 9th, the Pacer hosted Jac-Cen-Del, and fell by a final score of 12-2.
Switzerland County got on the board first, scoring in the bottom of the first inning; but the Eagles responded with four runs in the top of the third and then added five more in the top of the fourth.
The Pacers then tacked on a run in the bottom of the sixth, but Jac-Cen-Del wrapped up the game with three more runs in the top of the seventh to provide the 10-run final margin.
