Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The annual bicycle and sidewalk chalk decorating event was from 1:00 pm to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, Jul. 1 to prepare for the parade. Other Douglas 4th of July events are coming up. ....
The event is sponsored by Juneau Litter Free of which Laurie Sica is one of the officers. She said on Action Line that bags will be available from 8 to 10 a.m. at Douglas Fire Hall, Duck Creek Market, Western Auto, Super Bear, Fred Meyer, Foodland, and Forbidden Peak Brewery. Yellow bags for trash and green bags for recyclables which include aluminum, plastic, and tin, but not glass, along with plastic gloves, sign-up sheets, and information on the cleanup will be available at the sites. Trash pick-up is limited to public areas. The wetlands cleanup sponsored by Seal Trust and Coastal CODE is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon. The staging area for that effort will be at Sunny Point. ....
