The house in Athens where about 25 people were hurt when a floor collapsed during a party early Friday has been deemed unsafe for occupancy, Athens-Clarke County Building Inspections Director Doug Hansford said Monday. “We had a structural failure and it apparently affected more than just the kitchen. Some of the foundation walls are cracked and a couple of exterior walls are buckled,” Hansford said. The collapse occurred about 1 a.m. Friday in the two-story house at the end of a cul-de-sac on Magnolia Bluff Drive, a mostly student neighborhood off Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway. A large party was taking place that police and fire officials estimated was attended by about 500 people.
