La construction de la ligne de transmission qui transportera les surplus de la centrale hydroélectrique de Taltson à Fort Providence et à Kakisa devrait commencer au printemps 2023 et se terminer à l’automne suivant.
Les gouvernements fédéral et territorial ont réitéré, vendredi, leur promesse de financer le projet. Ottawa dépensera jusqu’à 45 millions de dollars du Fonds pour l’énergie dans l’Arctique, et le gouvernement ténois y investira quelque 15 millions de dollars.
Ce projet va essentiellement éliminer l’utilisation du diesel pour générer de l’électricité dans [ces] communautés [.], excepté en tant que réserve d’urgence, affirme la ministre des Infrastructures des Territoires du Nord-Ouest, Diane Archie. ....

Hydroelectric power could be coming to Fort Providence and Kakisa in the N.W.T. as soon as fall 2023. 
The federal and territorial governments committed to funding a long-promised, $60 million transmission line on Friday that would connect both communities to the Taltson hydroelectric transmission system. 
Once built, it would reduce greenhouse gas emissions from diesel fuel by 2.75 kilotonnes which represents 15 per cent of the territory s overall goal to reduce diesel emissions by 18 kilotonnes by 2030.  ....
