Danvers, Mass.: Jesus has taken some bad press and is in need of a branding makeover. Thus, we have all been subjected to the “He Gets Us” marketing campaign. But the evangelicals behind it do not seem to understand the most basic elements of getting Jesus.
Manhattan: Cynthia Fisher is correct that hospital prices are a vexing issue (“Show the real prices of NYC hospitals,” op-ed, Sept. 27), but why? The answer is that most hospital patients are Medicaid and Medicare beneficiaries, and reimbursement from those government programs doesn’t come close to covering hospitals’ costs of providing care.
Tappan, N.Y.: “Invasion” is an ominous word. It conjures personal harm and pending calamity. It is something we all shudder at the thought of. Yet, in 2022, an invasion is taking place in Ukraine by a more forceful country, militarily strong, driven by a man who wants to control a country of hard-working, honest people. He is intent on adding Ukraine to his Russian landmass, no matter the cost.
Forest Hills: To Vidal Guzman re “Being imprisoned shouldn’t mean being enslaved” (op-ed, Jan. 17): For you to have been charged as an adult at the age of 16 tells me that you committed a very serious crime. For you to have been moved to another facility upstate and held in solitary confinement for 905 days there tells me that you were far from a model prisoner.
