Opinion: Sister Lowery brought love, kindness and service to Gastonia
Dolores B. Goode
My name is Dolores B. Goode, veteran of the U.S. Army, 20-year retiree from Gaston County Department of Social Services.
This is where I met Dorothy Lowery, president of the food bank who inspired me to continue volunteer service.
Sister Lowery has served the city of Gastonia for 30 years and formed a strong relationship with community and local businesses.
B.R.E.A.D. is a nonprofit organization that collects and distributes food. The food bank also helps with essential needs, for example, clothing, personal care/household items. Very often Sister Lowery used her personal funds to help others.
