Outer Cape joins national protest for racial justice The issue of racial justice came into the forefront in 2020 after the killing of George Floyd on May 25 by a Minneapolis police officer led to nationwide protests, which made their way to the tip of Cape Cod. Black Lives Matter protests and marches were held in Provincetown, Truro and Wellfleet. In Provincetown, more than 100 people drove west along Commercial Street to a vigil for victims of police brutality at MacMillan Pier.
