STURGEON BAY - Momentum matters in auto racing. One strategy for a race car to turn consistently fast laps on an oval track is maintaining and building on its momentum.
It also matters to John Sternard and his partners in promoting auto racing at The Hill Raceway. For them, the 2021 season is largely about regaining the momentum lost when the entire 2020 season was canceled by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The third-mile clay oval at the Door County fairgrounds in Sturgeon Bay is set to open its 10-race season Saturday night, and Sternard said the hope is for the track s attendance and car counts to pick up where they left off in 2019, and grow even more.
