SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - With Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards announcing that the state is moving into Phase 3, religious services will have no capacity limits going forward.
Some northwest Louisiana pastors say their churches will continue doing what they have been doing for months by holding limited in-person services, online services, and some even worshipping outside in the parking lot.
Uelyss Reed Jr., pastor of Stonewall Baptist Church, says a COVID-19 outbreak at the Bossier City church in October of 2020 caused more than 20 people, including himself, to contract the virus. He says two church members died. ....

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) — Just like most everything in 2020, things will be different for Shreveport-Bossier City area churches celebrating the start of 2021.
The holiday is widely celebrated. And for churchgoers, it’s generally a big deal every year.
Churches adjust to bringing in new year amid COVID-19 pandemic
“Before COVID, many churches had watch night services, New Year’s Eve services, communion services, candlelight services,” St. Elizabeth Baptist pastor Donzell Hughes said.
He decided to still hold an hourlong communion service Dec. 31. ....

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) People smiled and thanked volunteers as they received hot dinners at no cost Wednesday, Dec. 23.
Ham, turkey, corn, bread, rolls and dressing filled Styrofoam plates.
“We just want to be a blessing,” St. Elizabeth Baptist Church pastor Donzell Hughes said. “You know, bless people’s bellies.”
Church, business owners pull together to feed 1,000 people
Volunteers set up shop at five locations: Retro Downtown Barbecue, Embrace Me Ministries, Mansfield High School, The Eagles Nest and Living Word Church. ....
