Obamas fight on the campaign. And Sarah Huckabee sanders only an hour ago briefing for the First Time Since monday. The president knows that there was no collusion in the campaign. And he has been quite clear about this. Its gone on for over a year. They have found no evidence of collusion, and still strongly believe that it is a witchhunt. So this you have trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani marking this anniversary with yet another round of media tours, this time the blitz is centering on this question. Can special Counsel Robert Mueller actually indict a sitting president . Well, according to giuliani, muellers own team told him the answer is no. Lets start this hour at white house with msnbc hans nichols. There is a lot of Foreign Policy The Middle East news we will get to in a little bit about what the president had to say today. But here we go again. You have those major events, a north korea summit, china, all the things the president talked
about today. And yet hes tweeting, his lawyer,
Charges related to bank fraud, tax charges. So this is the moment where this courtroom will now finally be hearing from manaforts essentially his number two, his former right hand man, rick gates. And gates is the prosecutions key witness. He will be the next person to testify. Lets go first to cnns caris beganel. She is just outside the courtroom in alexandria, virginia. Tell me, when will this happen . Mere minutes . We have one more witness to finish testified today. Thats manaforts accountant. Rick gates is the witness thats up next. Many of thes attorney said that in court. This all came about as one of manaforts attorneys sort of dropped a bombshell alleging that rick gates embezzleled millions of dollars from Paul Manafort. He asked the accountant would that have been something she would have looikd to have known. She said she would. He teed all of it up by making
it appear that rick gates was the main person he dealt with. And he tried to suggest through his questioning of her
be sympathetic to trump as possible. that being said we still haven t seen the big fish cooperate with the committee here. i think that might prove to be a problem for this committee. of course putting together all of these small pieces are very important. there is so much we still don t note. our reporting over the past few weeks i think says that itself. but when people like jeffrey clark refuse to ask questions, people who were in the oval office with the president in the days and weeks leading up to january 6th insurrection, people like john eastman who has already made it clear he s not going to cooperate, that makes getting things like this nara request, these documents that we are forcing through the white house at this time each more important if these central characters continue the deline to be cooperative. to jackie s point, robert costa you and mike have both done incredible reporting on john eastman. there is so much known. it seems to be coming out in the form of inve
if the governor gets recalled tomorrow, it s going to be a polling miss for the ages. gavin newsom is heavily favored. it doesn t mean he ll necessarily win, but it would be quite surprising to me as someone who studies the numbers. how is elder doing and why is he doing well? well, what is doing well, right? he leads in that second round. but that doesn t necessarily mean that most of the people who say they re going to vote in the second round want him. he s only at 31% of the vote. someone else blank don t note at 69% of the vote. compare that to the last recall in 2003 that schwarzenegger won. he was at 46% of the vote. 15 points ahead of where elder is right now. so that when voters are not just wondering about whether or not who i want to vote for in the second round, but who do i want to vote for in the first round, maybe i don t necessarily want elder. that wasn t a problem for schs schwarzenegger in 2003.
again, then we can t hold our leaders accountable to us. they become accountable to other people. but what i m concerned about is this move within the republican party that i think rand paul is now a part of of drawing closer to a foreign adversary while it attacks us. there is simply no excuse for this. well, speaking of that same foreign adversary, you now have we talked a lot about the putin/trump meeting and we still don t know. and high intel official don t note. here s what we do know. the guy on the screen, steven segal, who is by all accounts putt putin s bff is now the special envoy to the u.s. evan, do you think we will see steven segal visiting the oval office? i don t know. it would add to the bizarre world in which we now live. sure. why not? why not that?
