Opal M. Miller Jones, 1928 - 2021 Opal Miller Jones Opal M. Miller Jones, 92, passed away January 15, 2021, at Hays Medical Center, Hays. She was born November 28, 1928, in Rush County, to Julius and Amelia (Georg) Muth. Opal married Merle H. Miller January 19, 1950, in Great Bend. Merle died February 25, 1992. She later married Dale W. Jones April 28, 1994, in Las Vegas. Dale died Sept. 19, 2008. Opal, a lifetime resident of Great Bend, was a homemaker, and for many years worked part time at Dillon’s. She was well known for her cake decorating business, which she enjoyed from 1971 to 2010. Opal was a member of First United Methodist Church, Eagle’s Auxiliary, VFW Post 3111 Auxiliary and American Legion Argonne Post 180 Auxiliary. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. She also liked KU basketball, casinos, bowling, and Bingo. She loved to dance. ....
