Pennsylvania's school funding disparity, due to a reliance on local property taxes, means the poorest students are receiving a lower quality of education. The disparity is apparent between the Allentown School district, the Lehigh Valley's poorest, and its wealthy neighbors such as Salisbury Township, which spends nearly twice as much per pupil as Allentown.
During visit by U.S. Education Secretary Miguel Cardona, Northampton Community College students say it's time to erase the stigma surrounding community colleges.
