details. police say the standoff ended at 9:17 the suspect run out of the house in the five hundred block of saint michael as drive in middletown at that time engaged police and shot by officers. he was pronounced dead 12 minutes later. the suspect was wanted for the fatal shooting of copper actual stephen ballard outside this wawa in bear, delaware. this morning the corporal s flag-draped casket was move from the medical examiner s office to a funeral home. the house belonged to the suspect s family it was heavily damaged during the siege. shortly before 8:30 p.m. police report they used an explosive charge to blow open the front door. overnight gunfire came from inside the house. police responded by using additional explosive to breach a number of windows. some nearby homes were evacuated. residents said they could hear the police action. every hour the bomb went off. 1:50 a.m. there was a bomb. we heard explosions, they blew off the doors and the sides of the house ....
