GRANADA, Colo. (CBS4) – More than 70 years after an internment camp in Colorado for Japanese people closed, it could become a national historic site and part of the National Park System.
On a lonely dirt road east of Lamar, amid sagebrush and tumbleweeds, you find what is left of the Granada War Relocation Center, or Camp Amache as it became known to about 7,500 Japanese Americans in the 1940s.

Two thirds of them were U.S. citizens who after the attack on Pearl Harbor were forcibly removed from their homes by their own government and imprisoned. Decades later, Camp Amache has been virtually erased from the landscape, and, if not for a teacher and his students, might have been erased from history. ....

Staff across the seven RYA Regions and three Home Countries are working together to host a free Virtual Instructor Training Day on 13 March, with the aim of ensuring that Instructors are fully up-to-speed and prepared for a new season as soon as restrictions allow.
The packed agenda includes eight inspirational workshops from exciting national presenters, addressing a variety of disciplines and current hot topics, as well as crucial updates from RDOs and RYA Training.
The virtual format presents distinct benefits for Instructors, as one of the organisers, RDO Rob Howlett explains: Normally travelling around the region to attend the ITD can be a pain, especially for those instructors in the far reaches of their region. 2020 recap: 22 homicides reported in Tuscaloosa County
Authorities in Tuscaloosa County investigated 22 homicides during 2020, the highest number in more than a decade.
Last year’s total was one more homicide than the 21 investigated in 2019 and matched the 22 homicides recorded in 2008.
While there may not be much change between the overall totals, the homicide classifications are where the differences between 2020 and 2019 are seen.
More capital murder cases were reported in 2019 whereas more non-capital murder cases were reported in 2020. There was also one additional justified homicide case reported in 2019, which is a homicide that was determined justified and no charges were brought.
