shepard: the officials are indicating they are quite worried about a new al qaeda strategy. yeah. obviously the alarm bells were set ripping when those bombs were discovered on board cargo planes at the back end of last month bound for the united states. now, al qaeda does appear, according to national security analysts like our own k.t. mcfarland to be developing new methods. and people, like k.t. mcfarland, worry that our own security services are one step behind. listen. again, i think we re chasing our tail. we re dealing with something we re always a step behind. they always say at the pentagon that generals fight the last war. well, i think homeland security does, too. and k.t., like many security analysts, says, shep, that the problem with our security forces in general, is that they are often reactive rather than proactive. shepard: exactly why a lot of the experts say these body scanners and the patdowns are a complete waste of time and resources. again, you talk
spokesman said, quote, they respected the jury s decision and they would ultimately seek a life sentence in this case. the state department spokesman tweeted the ghailani case shows america practices what it preeches, protecting our national security through a transparent legal system. and it s worth noting that the two military commissions under president obama have received sentences of 8 and 2 years respectively. that s machine less than what is anticipated in ghailani s case, shep. shepard: also noted in this case the jury never heard testimony from a key witness because judge ruled investigators tortured to get the information from that witness. well, shep, she s cases have always been a trial within a trial. the cia detention and interrogation program. as we saw in the ghailani case, prosecutors could not successfully separate the two. and add to this that khalid sheikh mohammed the self-described ark at architecte 9/11 attacks was waterboarded ghailani was not.

and m and our student senate. trace: be careful what you wish for because now a state lawmaker says he will sponsor a bill to make sure that illegals do not pay instate tuition, shep. shepard: back to the student body president in california. is that position in jeopardy? i mean it s not as if he said i m legal. he just didn t say anything. right. that s the irony, right? is that you don t have to be a legal resident to be the student body president but technically he is facing deportation. you heard the guy who ran against him say that he lied and that, in fact, he should step down because he wasn t honest. well, a lot of other students said look, they are fine with it here s one student who played by the rules and became a legal resident. listen to him. i m a legal immigrant and i went through much pain to immigrate in this country it s a long process it bothers me that people would come in without doing it i understand it can be difficult. keep in mind that fresno state ha
