Sisters Residents Needed On County Planning Commision

Deschutes County is seeking volunteers from the Sisters area who are interested in serving on the County's Planning Commission. Applications will be accepted through Friday, April 29, at 5 p.m. The Planning Commission reviews land use policy and zoning regulations and makes recommendations to the Deschutes County Board of Commissioners. Members are the official citizen involvement committee on land use planning for the unincorporated area of the County, providing a forum for community input. There is one vacancy on the Planning Commission for a Sisters area member. The Sisters area member will serve a full term from July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2026. Planning Commissioners are not paid for their time and serve for four year terms. The Planning Commission meets at the Deschutes Services Center (1300 NW Wall Street) in Bend, on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at 5:30 p.m. Additional meetings and locations throughout the County may be required. Voter Registration Deadline Is April 26

Deschutes County voters have until Tuesday, April 26, to register to vote in advance of the upcoming May 17 Primary Election. Tuesday, April 26, is also the party choice deadline. Voters who wish to vote in the Democratic or Republican closed primary elections need to be registered as a member of that party by the deadline. Voters can update their party affiliation online at www.oregonvotes.gov/myvote. Voters who are not affiliated with a major party will receive a non-partisan ballot that will only contain non-partisan state and local offices and measures. "Now is a great time to check your voter registration to make sure you're prepared to vote in this spring's primary election," said County Clerk Steve Dennison. Crook County residents have been receiving phone calls from a person identified as an employee who works for the Crook County Sheriff's Office. The caller also indicates that a Judge will be signing a warrant for their arrest. The caller will usually try and get money from the resident. This is a scam call and please DO NOT give them any information that you cannot confirm. Hoodoo Ski Area will offer free lift tickets from 9 am - 4 pm on Thursday, April 7, for guests who donate a minimum of four non-perishable food items. Food donations go to The Giving Plate in Bend and Food for Lane County in Eugene.Donations can be taken any time this week to Team Kia at 611 NE Purcell Blvd. in Bend or Kiefer Kia at 1810 West 7th Ave. in Eugene.
