Mama Boko Haram facing 13 cases on 419, says EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says there are about 13 court cases against Aisha Wakil, popularly known as Mama Boko Haram at the federal and state high courts here in Maiduguri.
According to a statement by North-East Zonal Head of the EFCC, Mr. Egbodolo Olumide, the three counts before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court in Maiduguri is a fresh charge bordering on criminal conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretence and inducement.
It noted that the charges were against Aisha Wakil, Saidu Daura and Lawal Shoyede as chief executive officer, programme manager and country director respectively of a non-governmental organisation, Complete Care and Aid Foundation. ....

Security agents, others flee as insurgents overrun Borno town

Marte town has been overrun by suspected members of the Boko Haram sect and Islamic State West Africa Province.
The incident happened at about 5.30pm on Friday and the armed men were still holding the town as of Saturday, forcing security agents and civilians to flee.
The town is located on the fringes of Lake Chad Basin, an area occupied by the insurgents.
According to a military source, 90 per cent of the over 300 households that returned to the town in December 2020 have been displaced by the attack.
“90 per cent of the IDPs who returned in December have fled the town as a result of the recent attack. They have fled to nearby Dikwa and Maiduguri. As we speak, the insurgents are holding the place,” the military source said. ....

Boko Haram kills commuters, seizes 11 vehicles in Borno

Boko Haram terrorist sect has killed some commuters at Aligambori, near Gajiram, along the Maiduguri-Monguno Road in Borno State.
Eyewitnesses said the incident happened on Wednesday, and the casualty figure was yet known as of press time.
According to an eyewitness and driver plying the route, Ya lawan Dawo, the terrorists also snatched 11 vehicles from drivers and took them to the bush.
“They snatched 11 vehicles and killed the passengers at Aligambori, where they (terrorists) usually mount checkpoints,” Dawo told our correspondent.
Another transporter, Abba Monguno, said the Maiduguri-Monguno Road had been a nightmare to both drivers and commuters as they were always fearful of being attacked by the insurgents at any of their four checkpoints along the road. ....

HOUSES, pharmaceutical shops and food stores worth millions of naira were razed by Boko Haram insurgents in Womdeo village, Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
The insurgents drove into the southern Borno village in gun trucks and motorcycles around 6.30 pm on Tuesday and began to shoot indiscriminately.
Ibrahim Samuel, a resident of Womdeo, disclosed that the insurgents operated for more than two hours without interruption and left after they had accomplished their mission.
“When we heard gunshots, we immediately took to our heels; I was running for safety and the Boko Haram members were right behind me but they didn’t touch me, they only went ahead and started burning houses. ....
