TK Group fined Tk 3.2 lakh for razing hills in Ctg Photo: Mostafa Yousuf Star Digital Report Star Digital Report Department of Environment (DoE), Chattogram (metro) fined TK Group Tk 3.2 lakh for razing hills at Soloshahar area of the port city. The fine was imposed after a hearing at DoE Khulshi office today. Mohammad Nurullah Nuri, director of DoE Chattogram (metro) told The Daily Star that on a tip off, a team of DoE visited the spot at Summer Hill area of Soloshahar where they found a portion of hill was razed to construct building. Aminul Haque, manager of TK Group admitted to cutting 6,400 square feet of hills which resulted in the fine, Nuri added. ....
KDS Textile, Heidelberg Cement and 6 others fined Tk 4.25 lakh for pollution Star Digital Report Star Digital Report Department of Environment (DoE) Chattogram metro fined eight businesses including KDS Textile and Heidelberg Cement at least Tk 4.25 lakh for polluting environment. The fine was imposed after a hearing at DoE Khulshi office today. Mohammad Nurullah Nuri, director of DoE Chattogram Metro told The Daily Star that Heidelberg Cement, operating at South Halishahar was fined Tk 1 lakh while KDS Textile at Nasirabad was also fined Tk 1 lakh for keeping the effluent treatment plant closed. Baizid Steel (air pollution), Swapno Super Shop (sound pollution) and Synthetic Natural Adhesive were fine Tk 50,000 each while Naturab Accessories was fined Tk 55,000 on various environmental grounds. Tayab Dairy Farm was fined Tk 15,000 and MJL Bangladesh was fined Tk 5,000 on similar grounds. ....
