Solar panels helping New Lebanon schools save on energy costs

New Lebanon elementary and high schools had solar panels installed on their roofs to cut energy cost.
New Lebanon schools officials said the district has already seen utility savings after solar panels were installed in the fall on two school buildings in the district.
Solar panels were installed at Dixie Elementary and Dixie High School by Solar Power & Light and the green project is estimated to save the district between $70,000 to $100,000 over the next 25 years, the company said.
“I’m very happy to have the project completed. I think that just the benefit of it being less of a drain on our local power grid is extremely important of course. Every district likes to save money and put more of our district finances toward education,” said Superintendent Greg Williams. ....
