这是尹颖第一次详细了解“半条被子”的故事。1934年11月，中央红军先头部队抵达文明司，红军卫生部、干部团驻扎在沙洲村。因之前受到国民党反面宣传影响，不少村民对红军不了解，见红军来了，都往山里躲。村民徐解秀当年裹了小脚，又带着一岁的儿子，跑不动，便留在了村里。接下来的几天中，三位女红军在徐解秀家中借宿，与她挤一张床、盖一条被，结下了深厚的情谊。临走时，三位女红军见徐解秀家中连一条像样的被子都没有，想把自己随身携带的仅有的一条被子留下，可徐解秀坚决不愿收下。一条被子，推来让去，最后对半剪开。
