In a meeting held on Friday, Chief Justice of Bombay High Court Dipankar Datta and other judges of the administrative committee have decided to continue hearing cases virtually till May 7, 2021. This decision comes in the wake of Maharashtra going under lockdown due to spike in Covid-19 cases. ....

Given the surge in Covid – 19 cases in Maharashtra, the Bombay High Court at its principal seat in Mumbai will continue to hear cases virtually till May 7, it was decided at an Administrative Committee meeting chaired by Chief Justice Dipankar Datta, on Friday.
In a judicial order (SUO MOTU PIL NO. 1 OF 2021) passed subsequently a full bench of CJ and Justices AA Sayyed, SS Shinde and PB Varale has directed all interim orders of the Bombay High Court, subordinate courts and tribunals to be unconditionally extended till May 7, 2021, or until further orders, unless specifically dealt with by a judicial order to the contrary. ....

Calcutta HC Sets Aside Single Judge s Order Reviving Criminal Proceedings Against Anisur Rehman, Remands Back Matter

The Calcutta High Court has set aside an order of a Single Judge reviving criminal proceedings against erstwhile West Bengal BJP leader Anisur Rehman without granting him an opportunity of being heard and remanded the matter back for being considered afresh.
Rehman was arrested in the October 2019 murder of Trinamool Congress functionary Kurban Shah. Rehman had defected to the BJP from the TMC ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
Reportedly, Rehman had recently announced his decision to quit the BJP and ally with the Trinamul again. ....

NCLT Benches To Switch Back To Virtual Hearings From April 12

Due to sharp increase in COVID-19 cases throughout the country, the National Company Law Tribunal has decided to take up regular hearing through Video Conference w.e.f. 12
th April, at all its Benches.
The decision comes in supersession of its order dated February 23, for resumption of physical hearings.
The Tribunal has notified the Benches that will take up cases through virtual mode.
The Principal Bench of the NCLT shall comprise of BSV Prakash Kumar (Acting President) and Hemant Kumar Sarangi (Member).
Further, five Division Benches will function in the prescribed alternate arrangement at Delhi, two Division Benches shall be functional in Chennai and five in Mumbai (of these two Division Benches will function in an alternate fashion). ....
