Open letter to IGP Adamu on Chukwuemeka’s murder
On
By Ikechukwu Amaechi
I DECRIED here, penultimate week, the murder of Chukwuemeka Anichukwuegbo, an industrial physicist, whose life was cut short at 33 in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
Emeka, an orphan, was an employee of Diversey West Africa Limited when he was killed on November 28, 2020. His corpse was dumped in an unregistered, private morgue whose proprietors are yet to coherently explain what happened and why they appropriated his phone.
Police investigation has been anything but thorough. There were no follow-ups on possible leads. For instance, the proprietor of the rogue morgue said he was tipped off by his police friend to go and pick Emeka’s corpse after an alleged clash by rival cult gangs near the Lagos Garage in the old city.

When Chukwuemeka Anichukwuegbo was transferred from Lagos to Ijebu-Ode in 2019 with a promotion to boot by his company, Diversey West Africa Limited, it was a dream come true for him and his siblings. He was aged 33 at the time.
His had been a life of struggle being the second of three siblings orphaned early in life. He was only eight when their father, Fidelis Anichukwuegbo, died in 1995 and just 19 when fate played another cruel game on the family with the death of their mother, Anthonia Anichukwu, in 2006.

As she walked into the conference room in Ikeja, where a meeting was scheduled with her, it was obvious that all was not well with Miss Stella Anickukweugbo, as she was later identified. She looked bereft, forsaken and forlorn of hope.
Seated next to her was a Catholic Priest, Rev. Father Hyacinth Ibeh , who tried not to betray his emotion.
Their gloomy expressions were caused by the the demise of 33-year-old Chukwuemeka Anichukwuegbo, whom the Priest adopted alongside his two siblings including Stella.
