Bus owners’ associations, labour leaders and political leaders may have far-fetched ambitions that they seek to satisfy through all these artificial strikes, but not the workers. Transport workers are generally day-to-day wage earners. Most of them are not directly involved in political activities.
It is the local Awami League leaders and their allies who are actually enforcing the transport strikes in divisional cities right before the BNP rallies, while ministers keep insisting that transport associations are independent.
