And in a throwback, Davis is dressed in a white starched uniform decades ago, carrying a medicine tray at one of several Central Texas hospitals and nursing homes where she spent her 40-plus year nursing career.
“She was a beautiful person,” Boyd said, “always laughing, always telling jokes.”

AUSTIN The boy was only a few days shy of his 10th birthday on the morning that he would see his mom, his half-sister and her boyfriend alive for the last time, as they pulled into a parking lot for a scheduled supervised visit with his estranged father.
Instead of greeting his son with a hug and presents, the father rammed his vehicle into the family s car, pulled a handgun and began to fire without warning, the boy told police, forcing him to flee and seek shelter in a passing driver s car, according to court documents.
Police investigators have accused the boy s father, Stephen Broderick, 41, of shooting to death his wife, Amanda Broderick, 35; his stepdaughter, 17-year-old Alyssa Broderick; and the daughter s boyfriend, 18-year-old Willie Simmons.
AUSTIN, Texas – The former deputy arrested in the fatal Sunday shooting of three people in Austin, Texas, was left largely unsupervised by the criminal justice system months after a woman asserted in sworn affidavits that she and a child feared he would hurt them.
An examination of court records shows Stephen Broderick, a former property crimes detective with the Travis County sheriff s office, spent 16 days in jail last summer on charges of sexually assaulting a child.
Broderick, 41, then posted bail, which was set at $50,000, on June 22. The courts ordered him not to contact or go within 200 feet of the child. Broderick also was ordered to wear a GPS tracking device.
Alyssa Broderick was named along with her boyfriend, Willie Simmons III, as two of the former cop’s victims. Alyssa was still in high school and Willie had graduated and was in college.
They were named by their school district, Elgin ISD. The third victim is believed to be Stephen Broderick’s estranged wife,
Amanda Broderick.
Broderick was a cop until June 2020, assigned as a sheriff’s detective with
Travis County in Austin, Texas, when he was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a child.
The Statesman reports that the victim was identified as a family member.
Shortly after his arrest on June 6, Broderick was released from custody after posting a $50,000 bond and told not to go within 200ft of his daughter, Alyssa. The disgraced cop who had spent 16 days in jail before posting a $50,000 bail and released had been put on unpaid admin leave. Upon his release from jail, the sheriff’s detective resigned.
