Man pleads not guilty to murder for hitting highway worker in Jamul DUI Crash

A suspected drunken driver who veered into a construction area on state Route 94 in Jamul, where he struck and killed a highway worker pleaded not guilty Thursday to felony charges including murder.
Arnold Lee Patton, 69, is accused of causing the death of Jesus Gonzalez, 27, earlier this month. In addition to murder, Patton faces charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and DUI.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges during a hearing in El Cajon Superior Court. As of Thursday afternoon, he remained held in county jail with bail set at 250,000.
The crash happened about 10 p.m. Dec. 16. on westbound state Route 94 near Cougar Canyon Drive, authorities said. ....
