Guwahati: After Mariani MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi was fired upon by alleged land encroachers of Nagaland on Thursday, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi demanded more security cover for Kurmi.
Gogoi has sought additional security from Assam Director General of Police (DGP), Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, saying that it was essential for not only his well-being but also to enable him to carry out his duties as an elected representative more efficiently.
