Janet (Jan) Glover Mackenzie

Janet (Jan) Glover Mackenzie was born on March 2, 1939 and passed away on September 10, 2022 in Huntsville, Alabama at the age of 83. She was the daughter of Harry J. and Mildred S. Glover and grew up in the southern Illinois farming community of Albion where she continued to visit family and friends and the annual Chowder Festival well into the 2000s. Jan graduated nursing school at Evanston, Illinois and began her nursing career at Huntsville Hospital where she worked for thirty-five years in Labor and Delivery. Known as "Mac" to her co-workers, she made many lifelong friendships during these years while supporting colleagues, mentoring new nurses, humbling doctors and helping to deliver generations of Huntsvillians. After she retired, she followed her dream and built a cabin on a hillside in the country where she would grow her wildflowers, feed the many birds that visited her feeders and also the chipmunks that cleaned up the fallen seed.
