WXYZ — A vaccine clinic is happening Wednesday, May 12, for adults 18+ with physical, developmental or emotional barriers.
It s hosted by the Disability Network Oakland & Macomb from 10am to 3pm at 1709 John R Rd in Troy. The nonprofit Honor Community Health is a partner for the event.
The indoor vaccine distribution will feature limited interactions and minimal sensory stimulation. A drive-thru clinic is also available at the site.

Disability Network pens letter requesting vaccine priority for disabled Michiganders
METRO DETROIT A letter of appeal requesting that disabled Michiganders, and their caregivers, be prioritized for the COVID-19 vaccine has been sent to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ offices.
The letter was sent by Disability Network Michigan and its 15 centers for independent living, including Disability Network Oakland and Macomb, across the state. DNM serves 1.9 million disabled residents across the state. Last year, the Oakland and Macomb office served 1,100 disabled individuals.
According to a press release, the letter requested that state officials review their current vaccine distribution policies to allow the prioritization of all people ages 16-64 with disabilities to be changed from phase 1C to 1B, whether they reside in congregate care or not. ....

Disability Network Oakland and Macomb gifts 300 care packages to local residents


The Disability Network Oakland and Macomb volunteers handed out more than 300 care packages to local residents during a drive-thru distribution.
The Troy-based organization partnered with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Vince and Joe s Gourmet Market to make this possible. 
“Blue Cross and the Disability Network Oakland Macomb assembled care packages including essential and convenience items to support our consumers extended stay at home. Additionally, our friends at Vince and Joe’s Gourmet Market arranged a basket of holiday treats to add joy to the season,” said Kelly Winn, executive director of the Disability Network Oakland and Macomb.
