If you’re a Dead Head, you know there is something special about the Grateful Dead, that iconic ‘70s band from California that personified the counter culture with its extensive world touring and diehard fan base.
Whenever I see a tie-dyed T-shirt, I can’t help but hear Truckin’ in my mind.
No one can truly re-create the sound or attitude of the Dead, but Asheville’s Dirty Dead will honor them this Friday night at Mills River Brewing Co.
Don’t expect to hear this band of six men imitate the Dead - expect to hear Dead songs (and others) with a bit more grit.

At 6 p.m. today, New Year’s Eve, the Blue Ridge Pistols will stop playing for the partiers at Triskelion Brewing Company to ring in the New Year.
Yes, you read that correctly 6 p.m., not midnight, is when toasts will be made, everyone gets a hug, and you kiss that special someone.
No, wait we’re in the midst of a surging pandemic! Make those toasts six feet away from other people. Absolutely no hugging! And you just might have to kiss that special someone with face masks on. Welcome to 2021, and the band plays on.
