FREEHOLD - Monmouth County officials are holding off on approving a $453 million budget to see if they can give taxpayers a break by using some of the county s share of a $1.9 trillion pandemic relief package.
Monmouth County commissioners were set Thursday to approve the budget, which includes a $6.1 million tax increase, but are holding off until their next meeting in two weeks or possibly the following meeting to approve the budget. According the House Oversight Committee, Monmouth County is due to get $120 million from the federal government.
Commissioner Director Tom Arnone said they are waiting to get the details to see whether the county s share of the pandemic relief package could be used to offset the tax increase.
