Buffalo Creek and Loyalhanna looking for votes for Pa River of the Year

Mary Ann Thomas | Tribune-Review   About the creeks Loyalhanna Creek is a 50-mile tributary of the Kiskiminetas River, originating from Laurel Ridge just north of Donegal. It flows north-by-northeast along the southeastern side of Chestnut Ridge before passing through Latrobe and Loyalhanna Lake before joining with the Conemaugh River to form the Kiskiminetas River at Saltsburg. Its name is said to be derived from the Delaware Native American language meaning middle stream. Buffalo Creek stretches about 34 miles between eastern Butler County and Freeport at its confluence with the Allegheny River. The creek is beloved by birders and anglers alike: The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission designated a section of the Buffalo Creek as a site for Best Fishing Waters for Stocked Trout.
