The agreement for the loan, approved by the consortium (National Bank of Pakistan, Habib Bank Limited and Bank Islami Pakistan Limited) was signed by the NTDC Managing Director Muhammad Ayub and the consortium’s representatives Asad Altaf, Zia-ud-Din Tahir and Amir Ashraf at a ceremony held here at Wapda House. ....
ISLAMABAD: The National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) has secured a Rs6.4 billion financing facility for the construction of a 220/132-kilovolt sub-station and 35km-long allied transmission lines to evacuate 1,224 megawatts of clean renewable energy from wind power plants at the Jhimpir corridor. According to a statement released on Tuesday, the financing has been secured from a consortium of local banks. Speaking at an agreement signing ceremony, NTDC Managing Director Muhammad Ayub said that it was for the first time that NTDC was exploring the option of raising a financial facility from its own resources (balance sheet) without government guarantee. “Previously, the company had relied on government of Pakistan’s guaranteed loans from the local market,” he said. “This facility will be a precursor to more funding for the upcoming NTDC projects.” ....
LAHORE: The National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) has said that it will complete the laying of 500kV High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission line from Torkham border to Nowshera by December 2022, as well as construction of a convertor station. The line is meant to receive 1,000 megawatts from Kyrgyzstan in direct current (DC), convert it at the convertor station in Nowshera (Azakhel Bala) and add it to the national grid to meet the summer demand of Pakistan under the Central Asia-South Asia power project commonly known as CASA-1000. HVDC will receive 1,000MW from Kyrgyzstan “We are hopeful that we will complete our portion of the HVDC line by November 2022, a month before our deadline. Similarly, we are also making efforts to complete the convertor station by December 2023 instead of June 2024,” a senior official told Dawn after the NTDC management established a camp office at Azakhel Bala to fast-track the work. ....

The transmission will be connected with 500 kV Neelum-Jhelum transmission line. NTDC has completed basic works like survey and soil investigation, route validation, demarcation of forest trees, approach and access roads etc. NTDC Managing Director Muhammad Ayub inaugurated the construction works for the first tower of the said transmission line at Garhi Habibullah, Kyber-Pakhtunkhwa. He directed the NTDC teams and contractor to complete the project before its deadline.
