C Luzon tallies epidemic dengue cases; intensified efforts urged

(File photo) CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga -The Department of Health Central Luzon Center for Health Development (DOH CLCHD) has called for intensified and collaborative efforts to manage the rising cases of dengue in the region. Based on the report of the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU), a total of 6,608 dengue cases were reported in the region from January 1 to June 11, 2022. The figures are 33 percent lower compared to the same period last year of 9,875. However, the DOH CLCHD said the current cases have already reached the epidemic threshold for the past eight weeks. DOH Regional Director Corazon Flores called on the people to be extra cautious in participating in Lenten activities, noting that the threat of Covid-19 remains. "Let us continue to practice the minimum public health standards amid the easing Covid-19 situation in the region," Flores said in an interview.
