2 ex-bankers get 10-yr imprisonment for money embezzlement in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Dec 14, 2020 (BSS)- A court here has convicted sacked two senior bank officials and sentenced them to suffer 10 years jail each for misappropriating Taka 3.19 crore.
Divisional Special Judge Ismat Ara found the convicts guilty of corruption and pronounced the verdict on Sunday afternoon.
Simultaneously, the court also fined them Taka 1.60 crore each. Another accused of the case Khandaker Mainul Islam, one of the prominent businessmen in Rajshahi city, killed himself as he failed to bear the load of his bank loan in 2015.
According to the court sources, the convicts are: former Senior Executive Vice President and Branch Manager of Jamuna Bank Limited Abrar Hossain Khan and its senior Executive Officer Mazharul Islam. ....
