They are greedy, says Metrobus of striking workers wanting 18% salary increase, 60 leave days

Johannesburg - Metrobus has accused the Democratic Municipal and Allied Workers Union of SA (Demawusa) of being greedy and destructive.
Metrobus spokesperson Goodwill Shiburi said the municipal entity had been losing R250 000 to R300 000 a day since the strike began. The losses came from the failure of buses to go out on the road.
The Star understands that most bus drivers are willing to work and have been reporting for duty at the depot.
The City of Joburg does not recognise Demawusa, which has around 100 members at Metrobus, as a union. ....

Workers have been on strike since last week demanding an 18% wage increase; there are also issues over unfair dismissals and salary disparities.
Management has refused to negotiate with union officials, saying the union was not recognised.
Metrobus commuters have to continue using alternative transport, this as it appears that the strike by drivers is far from over.
Parties have not been talking since the strike began last week.
On Monday, striking workers held a picket at the Gandhi Square bus terminal in support of their demands. ....
