Peter Gill is challenging local authority red tape by setting up his own religion.
Since Peter Gill bought a church he has found religion – but only to protest his right to rent out the brightly painted property.
The North Canterbury resident paid $185,000 for a 1950s former Methodist church and heritage-listed hall in rural West Eyreton in November. He planned to convert the property into a house to rent out.
It had been advertised by Mike Pero Real Estate as a residential property with one bedroom.
