Public health and public safety should not be a function of how much money you. have but in america today, that s not the case. in america today, one of the leading causes of bankruptcy for american families is the inability to pay a hospital bill. that s just simply wrong. it is simply wrong that we have a situation where the pharmaceutical companies have been dictating prices in a way that they re pricing people out of their ability to buy insulin every time they need to use it, because it is so darn expensive, that you have people who are sitting down and deciding should they pay their rent or pay for all of the insulin that they need, to be able to be productive. so we need to reform our health care system. we need to understand, again, that access to health care should be available to everyone regardless of how much you have money you have in your back pocket. you can watch the entire interview, only here at msnbc tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. eastern. next up the president s reaction ....

Just because of the partisan nature there. before we move to the senate process do you think in some ways this platform of repeal could be a double-edged sword for republicans to the extent that they re still talking about health care? they re not talking about jobs either. no, i don t think so. i think health care is so intimate to people, it touches you. it touches everybody in such a direct way. and when people see for the most part taxes going up, increased regulations, more bureaucracies, medicare commissions dictating prices in this short term with the elections in november, i think it will stay out there as a pretty hot issue. obviously, the president has to move to jobs very quickly because in the last six months hasn t been talking jobs, the economy, afghanistan and other issues. but from a political standpoint, this is crystal clear it was partisan, it was led in such a way that bigger government, no concentration on controlling costs. so it s a pretty clear issue for ....
