Casey has been writing for new yorkers and New York Times, for others for many years now. Many of you probably noticed because you are here but in all of her work she has been superhuman ability to make everybody else fascinating. Its a clear and this could not be more true for this book. In this one, casey marks to intertwining mysteries. One is a story of reverend Billy Maxwell in his trials and the other unfinished work of character. Stories with contagious dedication to seeing them through and doing them as must dash justice is possible. This is a book that you can actually not put down. I mean, that very seriously. Along with tuskegee attorney fred gray, she is the last remaining leader from the montgomery busboy cot. On several occasions i have been privileged to listen to mrs. Abernathy, recall her experiences in the civil rights struggle. We are in for a treat. Our program is simple. First, we will hear introductory comments by a scholar. Church that killed four young girls in times when the police try to disperse young demonstrators with fire hoses and dogs. This is an outward. We still find that people in those communities are saying thats an old case. We dont need to revive it. Why bring up the past . Lets let it go. Lets let god take care of it. And i answer did not god give us a mind . Did not god give us the strength . Why are we depending on that . That can bring closure, i feel, to all of these negatives that still float around in the air, whether they be in mississippi or whether it be in other parts of this country. It was the same thing that was told to me. Years and years i searched for evidence that would help us get a third trial with medgars assassin. People said youre crazy, youre living in the past. Youve got to move away from it. I cant help you. I wont help you. And this one word, one word that medgar had and i had, and i hope all of us want to make positive changes will have, and thats perseverance. A believing in something, a being determined, having that vision. Being determined of seeing that vision comes into being. And assessing whatev
