American costume designer Ellen Mirojnick did source vintage pieces from dealers but also had designer Lorenzo Mancianti and a jewellery team on set making hundreds of pieces throughout filming. If we take one of their styles from the show to wear this spring, it will be the hair adornments. Outsized wigs, as large as any worn by Marie Antoinette, are liberally speckled with floral motifs, diamanté clips, feathers, tiaras, micro-crowns and aigrettes. Itâs all about prettiness â but, by resorting to a mix of vintage and modern, you can give the look your own edge. And interestingly this season, designers suggested ways to create a sort of halo effect, using iridescent pearls at Simone Rocha and silver headpieces at Chanel.Â
