RIVERSIDE Medical Practice in Musselburgh says its Covid-19 vaccination programme is “running smoothly”. A practice spokesperson stressed that the vaccine uptake had been high, with almost all patients eager to get the jab to protect them against the deadly virus. The practice – East Lothian’s biggest – is now contacting people aged between 75 and 79, and those shielding, who should have already received a letter from the Government or been defined as a shielder by their GP, to offer appointments Riverside has about 1,100 patients in this group and, after a special weekend vaccine clinic this Saturday, expects to have offered appointments to about half of them, with remaining patients to be contacted once the surgery receives its next vaccine delivery.

Over-80s start receiving Covid vaccine in East Lothian

ELDERLY residents across East Lothian became the first in the county to receive the Covid 19 vaccine today (Monday) as supplies were delivered to GP practices. At Riverside Medical practice, Musselburgh, appointments had already been booked for the first of its over-80s to come in for the vaccine today. Among them was Musselburgh grandmother Anna Boyle, 97, who received the vaccine from lead nurse Diane Fyffe. Anna said:  I ve always had vaccines. I have great faith in this vaccine and think it s very worthwhile. Riverside is set to roll out the vaccine to up to 600 patients as the first phase of the programme sees over-80s given priority appointments.
